About us – Karl, Barbara & the Rancho Los Lobos team

From vision to retreat center

We, Karl and Barbara, fell in love with this magical place years ago. Surrounded by the Los Alcornocales Natural Park, the ancient cork oaks, and the Hozgarganta River, we immediately felt that this is a special place. What began as a hotel has organically evolved into a retreat center. We noticed that people come here to find peace and to connect – with themselves, nature, and others. We wanted to enhance that. Today, we live and work here with our horses, dogs, chickens, and cats, sharing this place with people who want to bring retreats, yoga, and healing into the world. Rancho Los Lobos is our home – and we open it to you. Welcome home!

Chef, Host, Visionary

Karl cooks with heart and soul. Regional organic cuisine, vegetarian and vegan – for him, food is an expression of love and care. He is at home in the kitchen, and you can taste it.

Host, Organizer, Heart and Soul

Barbara takes care of everything behind the scenes – and the well-being of every single guest. With her warmth and clarity, she creates a setting where everyone feels welcome.

The Rancho Family

Our animal residents

The animals belong to the Rancho just as the cork oaks belong to the natural park. Our horses, dogs, chickens, and cats enrich daily life here and bring a special energy with them. They remind us daily to be in the moment.

Our values

What we stand for

These values shape our daily actions at Rancho Los Lobos – from the kitchen and the gardens to the retreats that take place here. They are the foundation upon which everything we do rests.

Sustainability

Organic food, regional products, respect for nature

Authenticity

No frills, genuine encounters, honest hospitality

Community

We create spaces for connection – with oneself and others

Slow Living

Time to breathe, deceleration, being instead of doing, and digital detox

The location

Rancho Los Lobos & the natural park

Rancho Los Lobos is nestled in the Los Alcornocales Natural Park, one of the last large cork oak forests in Europe. The Hozgarganta River flows nearby and protects us from two sides. It is a place with a special energy – many describe it as magical.

The vision

Our vision for Rancho Los Lobos

We want to make Rancho Los Lobos a place where people can have transformative experiences – whether as a retreat leader or a guest. A place that nourishes, inspires, and heals. And all of this in harmony with nature.
